Flute Sonata No. 3 – (The N. C. Wyeth Sonata)

A sonata inspired by the paintings of American illustrator, N.C. Wyeth, each movement reflects his life and creativity.

Movement 1, subtitled, “Youth, Trains, and Tin-Pan-Alley is a medley of incidents and developments that affected his early life.  6’42

Movement 2, subtitled, “A Dead Son – reflection and memory”, conveys the poignant death of his teacher, Howard Pile’s son. 7’33

Movement 3, inspired by N. C. Wyeth’s painting, Bronco Buster, captures the asymmetrical energy and spasmodic movements of a cowboy on a wild bronco. 2’12
