Four Sons E-mail

GF 3.jpeg"Christopher Caliendo had formerly re-scored Sam Peckinpah's 'Major Dundee' for Sony Pictures, and with his infectious spirit and enthusiasm, he took on the challenge of a new score for 'The Iron Horse and Four Sons. Fox Home Video Lab West got to witness the new version of 'The Iron Horse' - and the effect was sublimely moving. Visions of Abraham Lincoln filled the giant screen. Mr. Caliendo has delivered a full, robust score, with outstanding themes for Davy Brandon and his love interest, Miriam Marsh, Buffalo Bill, Wild Bill Hickcok, wonderfully evocative instrumentations for the Indian themes and cacophony of tubular bells accompany the completion of the Transcontinental Railway at Promontory Point, Utah

The New York Times says:

"Having watched "The Iron Horse" in the new Fox version, with its excellent orchestral score by Christopher Caliendo, I can say with some confidence that Ford's epic remains an astounding achievement, a suite of embedded narratives that expand and comment each other, as audacious in its way as Griffith's intolerance.

––The New York Times - Dave Kehr

"Caliendo, a prolific composer, wrote a mostly traditional score, with some engrossing detours into traditional (roots) music, the overall impression is of silvery, richly retailed images. This should not be missed."
